Exploring The Scandinavia With Norway Rental Cars
You should get Norway rental cars if you intend to explore the hidden gems of the country by driving. You can get rental cars in all airports as well as the major towns. There are a variety of models available depending on your budget, the seat capacity required, and preferences.
You can rent a car in Norway through a travel agency, in person at their bureau, or online. It is recommended you reserve your car in advance especially if you will be visiting the country during the summer.
What Documents Should You Carry?
EU residents and American visitors with valid driver’s licence do not have to go through thorough scrutiny when renting a car. Visitors from other countries should check Norway’s driving rules and are thoroughly screened before they are given a car. Holders of licenses not issued by an EU country require an International Driver’s Permit (IDP).
What Are The Regulations?
You have to be 19 years or older to hire a car in Norway. Some companies raise the age to 25 depending on the type and model of car you want. For those below 25 years, be ready to pay a young driver’s fee, which is about NOK 100 everyday, although this varies from company to company.
Rental cars Norway companies offer their cars for 7 days. Their approximate charges are NOK 2,800 for a small car, NOK 3,000 for a medium size car, and NOK 3,700 for a large car. You should however compare what different companies have to offer and you can always bargain the prices. Also, find out what is available in the car hire package and check for restrictions such as out of town charges, daily limit mileage, charge per extra kilometer, and so on.
If you are travelling with a person with special needs or a baby, you can request for special vehicles and equipment that will make your travel more comfortable. Ask for baby seats and cars with wheel chair compartments if need be. These are provided at no extra charge by the car vendors.
Do not drive a car that is not insured. Confirm with the car hire firm whether it’s included in the Norway rental cars package or if you will have to pay for this differently.
